Who is Romancing Mr Bridgerton? And which of the Bridgerton brothers are we talking about?
It has to be Colin Bridgerton, of course, since Anthony and Benedict already found their happily ever after in book 2 and book 3.
Plus, if you are yet to watch the first season of Bridgerton on Netflix, then be ready to discover the true identity of Lady Whistledown!
The fourth installment of the Bridgerton series is the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
Penelope has been in love with Colin since she can remember. Colin, on the other hand, is a whole different story. Actually, there is a scene in the third book where Colin blurts out to his brothers that he is certainly not marrying Penelope.
And guess who was right behind him! Yes, Penelope. Poor sod. I loved that she handled the situation like the badass lady she is.
But that doesn’t mean she is still not in love with Colin.
“Unrequited love was never easy, but at least Penelope Featherington was used to it.”
― Julia Quinn, Romancing Mister Bridgerton

It has been 12 years since she first fell in love with Colin, who has never noticed it. No one knows more about unrequited love than poor Penelope.
Now, she is a 28-year-old spinster with no hope or expectations of getting a suitor. Her elder sisters are now married, and her younger sister seems to have found her match. But she is happy. She has Eloise, also a spinster, and other secrets that keep her busy (watch the show or just read the book because I am feeling generous enough not to spoil this for you.)
And Colin, in his thirties, is back after his travels. He’s always on the road, preferring to be away from home most of the time and avoid topics about marriage. And he feels lost. His brothers have found a purpose and love. Antony, as the Viscount and the man of the Bridgerton household, already has Kate. Benedict has Sophie and from her encouragement, he is now a renowned artist. And it annoys Colin that he doesn’t have such passions. All every one, including his family, knows him for is his sense of humor.
Which is annoying because from the books and even the adaptation, Colin really is hilarious and cheeky. But in this book, we have to deal with a very emotional, angry, grumpy, and what I’d call entitled Colin.
However, Penelope does make up for it. She might be a wallflower but she knows her way around several issues, including helping poor Colin realize his true passions. And, she has a fan, Lady Danbury!
Honestly, Penelope was the star of this book. She is composed, intelligent, and definitely goes for what she wants. That’s my kinda girl!
